Description
Drum set in excellent conditions and completely original; 20"x14" bass drum, tom 12"x8" and 14"x14" floor tom. The finish is Red Sparkle; the drums have 172xxx, 128xxx, 136xxx serial numbers so that they could be dated 1965. All the shells are painted inside with the white Resacote.
The Club Date model was present since 1940's in the WFL catalogs; what we see pictured above was produced from 1959 to about 1970. Considered the cheaper version of the Downbeat, the Club Date has the same sizes and 3-ply shells with reinforcements maple rings.
These drums can undoubtedly suit to Jazz or similar kind of styles, but with a simple change of heads and intonation can even afford Rock situations: the bass drum has great volume and presence as the 2 toms. Ideal for the drummer who plays constantly in the clubs and don't want to break his back, searching for a resonant, Vintage versatile sound.
